WIPM Hosted the Fourth International Symposium on Frontiers of Magnetic Resonance

International Symposium on Frontiers of Magnetic Resonance (ISFMR) is a symposium series organized by Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics (WIPM), Chinese Academy of Sciences. Supported by National Center for Magnetic Resonance in Wuhan, the fourth ISFMR was held on June 28, 2015 in WIPM. The theme of this year’s symposium is “Quantitative Measurement of Tissue Structure and Metabolism by Cutting-edge Magnetic Resonance techniques”.

First academician Chaohui Ye gave a warm opening speech, introducing the history of ISFMR and expressing welcome to all the participants. The director of WIPM, Prof. Maili Liu, then made a brief introduction to the institute. He also thanked the supports and helps from the participants, both domestic and overseas, over the years, and wished more communications and collaborations among the participants.

Nine distinguished scientists from overseas and more than one hundred local attendees participated the event. The invited speakers include former president of International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), Prof. Jurgen Henning from University of Freiburg, Germany; former presidents of Overseas Chinese Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (OCSMRM), Prof. Xiaoping Hu, Emory University and Prof. Xiaohong Zhou, University of Illinois at Chicago; and current president of OCSMRM Prof. Wei Chen, University of Minnesota. The speakers covered a wide range of topic related to the main theme of the symposium, such as translational preclinical imaging, in vivo 31P-MRI/ MRS, ultra-short echo time imaging, chemical exchange saturation transfer, hyperpolarized 13C MRI in human and metabolic imaging for studying brain function and disease etc.

Participant held extensive discussions after the talks. All the participants visited the magnetic resonance facility in WIPM and took a group photo.
