“2nd Sino-French Workshop on Solid State NMR Spectroscopy” proceeded at Wuhan from November 1 to 3, 2010. The workshop was collaboratively held by Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics (WIPM), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and University des Science et Technologies de Lile, France. The workshop invited 15 well-known experts from France, America, and China to makes academic reports, and attracted almost 100 delegates.

The workshop covers new strategies for high-resolution NMR to spin -1/2 nuclear and quadrupole nuclear, new methods for hetero-nuclear decoupling and recoupling, 2D methods for homo-nuclear (or hetero-nuclear ) dipolar recoupling, latest advances in MQMAS and STMAS, as well as applications of solid state NMR in membrane proteins, polymers, glasses, catalytic materials, catalytic reactions, etc. In addition, three technical experts from Bruker, Agilent, Jeol also made reports on the latest progress in SSNMR spectrometer technology. The atmosphere was interactive by many questions, and the discussions persisted constantly after the meeting.

In recent years SSNMR has been rapidly developed with the many emerging new experimental methods and technologies, which are widely applied in material sciences and biological macromolecules. The aim of the workshop is to promote the academic communication and cooperation among SSNMR researchers, and improve the research capability of SSNMR in China.
