The 9th Asian International Seminar on Atomic and Molecular Physics （AISAMP） was held on Dec 4th to 8th 2010 in Seoul, where the plenary talk, “the above threshold ionization of atoms and molecules in femtosecond laser field”, was given by professor Liu Xiaojun, who came from Wuhan institute of physics and mathematics (WIPM). This report showed the recent progresses of WIPM in the field of ionization of atoms and molecules in femtosecond laser field, which earned high opinions from the scientists in the seminar.

AISAMP is a biennial important international conference in the field of atomic and molecular physics. This year, the conference attracted more than 120 experts and scientists, including Prof. Krausz from Max Planck institute for quantum optics and Prof. Ueda from Tohoku University.

The topics of this conference involved cold atoms, quantum information, the interaction of atoms and molecules with femtosecond laser field and fine measurement. Prof. LiuXiaojun 's report indicated the research interests of WIPM were in accordance with the international hot spots. In the period of the 12th 5-year plan, the staffs of WIPM will aim at the hot issues in the field of atomic and molecular physics and try their best to achieve original research fruits.
